Skye Canyon, a 1,700-acre master-planned community in northwest Las Vegas hosts Fit Fest on Saturday, March 10, 2018. The family-friendly healthy living themed festival features fitness classes and demonstrations, interactive lifestyle booths, kids activities, healthy cuisine, and a vendor expo. Fit Fest is open from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Skye Canyon Park, 10111 W. Skye Canyon Park Dr. The event is free and open to the public.
The festivities get underway with the third annual Skye Canyon 8K Trail Mix and 5K Road Race. The race starts at 9 a.m. at Skye Canyon Park. Proceeds from the race will benefit Create a Change Now, a local nonprofit committed to educating children, and their families, in at-risk Clark County elementary schools about proper nutrition to combat preventable diseases. The race is open to runners and walkers of all ability levels. There will be a recovery and relaxation area that will offer FST stretching and massages from the NV School of Massage therapy for racers and other Fit Fest attendees. The 5K race pricing is $30, and the 8K pricing is $40.
Professional BMX rider Ricardo Laguna and the Las Vegas Lights Football Club will be at Fit Fest meeting kids and signing autographs.
Masterchef Chef Will Staten will be conducting healthy food demonstrations every 30 minutes at Skye Bistro.
There will also be food and beverage offerings from local food truck vendors and Skye Bistro will serve Starbucks coffee beverages.
Live entertainment includes fitness demonstrations by Mixxed Fit, a tap dance showcase by Victoria Jones, and Jay R Beatbox will provide vocal entertainment.
The lifestyle expo will have over 30 vendors such as Lee Canyon Ski and Snowboard Resort, Paiute Golf Resort, Southern Nevada Bicycle Coalition, REI, Soccer Shots Youth Soccer League, TRY Yoga, local protein bar company Mad Macro, a Lorna Jane activewear pop-up shop, Bombs & Bubbles vegan bath products, Whole Foods who will be offering a build your own trail mix station, and much more. Skye Canyon’s homebuilders will be present, so new home shoppers can learn more about the various new home options available.
For the kids, Star Nursery hosts an interactive veggie garden experience and other activities will include a rock-climbing wall and a giant inflatable obstacle course. Jaguar Las Vegas and Las Rover Las Vegas will be handing out free bicycle helmets to kids. Helmets are available while supplies last.
Guests can also enter the Skye Canyon Giveaway to win gift cards and active gear.
Fit Fest is held annually on the anniversary of Skye Canyon’s grand opening. Skye Canyon’s Phase II is under construction with the addition of two new homebuilders, Lennar Homes and Richmond American to Skye Canyon’s current homebuilders that includes Century Communities, Pardee Homes, Pulte Homes, and Woodside Homes. Phase II will feature eight new neighborhoods opening in 2018.
